Pithruvedi is meant to unify all married catholic men and to engage themselves in charitable works. The membership is open to all married men in the church. St Joseph, the foster-father of Jesus and the most Holy Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is the patron of Pithruvedi. True to the characteristics of the patron, Pithruvedi strives to inculcate the virtues of being selfless, family- centred and leading the family in prayer and worship. Pithruvedi initiate two days of dedication every year - 19 March, St. Joseph's Day and 1 May (the feast of St. Joseph theworker). In Italy, the St. Vincent De Paul Society is the Fathers’ Forum doing the activities of the Pithruvedi. Pithruvedi is very active in all the Mass Centres for coordinating the official functions and charitable activities.
